Bet the Farm is a strategy card game, where you take on the role of Yara’s only child. Yara has left you her farming empire, but there’s a slight snag: your greedy uncle owns half the company. He’s only willing to sell if you can win a bet and prove you’ve mastered the ins and outs of running a farm in four years.
I am pleased that the Audio for this videogame was rated #14 out of 561 games submitted to the GameOff22, with a special mention on the github.com page.
As the composer for the soundtrack of the GameOff22 video game “Bet the Farm“, I had the pleasure of working with an incredible team of 13 to bring to life the auditory experience of the farm life and its changing seasons.
After seeing the concept art of the incredible main artist Nez, I had a clear picture of what the game soundscape needed to be.
My goal was to create a chill and relaxed atmosphere with music that follows the natural rhythms of nature, so I chose a reduced sound palette and focused on acoustic instruments like the fiddle and flute as the main melody–carrying instruments.
I also used guitar, mandolin, bagpipes and my own homemade Nerdy–Gurdy, to give the soundtrack a unique and organic touch.
By drawing inspiration from the ebb and flow of the four seasons, I was able to craft four main tracks that capture the essence of each season. Spring was represented by a blooming and sweet melody, Summer by a farmers dance, Autumn by a melancholic bitter–sweet track, and Winter by a still and chill one.
I am confident that this soundtrack will provide the perfect backdrop to the tranquil and joyful experience of playing “Bet the Farm“ and I hope that all those who listen to it will enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed creating it.
