When I first started creating videos for Lingopont, Lingopont was a start-up: nobody heard of it before. We needed a strong statement, something that people could remember. So we decided to have a 3 sec opening logo at the beginning of each video, to establish the branding and remind the user that they are watching a Lingopont production.
The sound design process took about one day to record it all and mix it. Lingopont is fun and engaging, and it teaches languages in a simple innovative way. For logo sounds, I usually start from adjectives that I want the sound to recall. In this case, they were:
- fun
- cultured
- smart
- simple
The introduction is the sound of a screeching car, reminiscing of Hanna and Barbera SFXs, followed by a sound I made by slapping the end of a clarinet, which makes a very “bubbly” sound.
Finally, a simple guitar strum of F major, with a chime playing a perfect 4th, and the sound of the rustling pages of a book.
